Monifieth High School’s Classical Studies and Latin teacher, George Connor, and his partner Miri Teixeira are featured this summer in The Herald.
The STALOS programme grew out of the close collaboration of George and St Andrews Classics’ Dr Henry Stead. Now the St Andrews Latin Outreach Scheme is about to be launched across two schools in the Tayside region, delivering Latin classes in the Scottish state sector, where it has all but disappeared. The extraordinary efforts of teachers like George Connor at Monifieth and Jennifer Shearer at Kirkcaldy High School are keeping the long and proud tradition of Scottish classics alive.
