STALOS 2022 graduates

We would like to congratulate all the graduates of STALOS 2022. Our first year saw 20 pupils from Monifieth High School complete a ten session course of Beginners Latin. To celebrate we invited them all and their teachers to the University of St Andrews for a gala lunch. After a few sessions with St Andrews classics students about university life and a tour of the campus (including the beautiful Fife coastline!), the pupils received their coveted STALOS certificates, and their industrious teacher George Connor was presented with a fudge donut for his tremendous assistance in kicking off the STALOS programme.

One of the STALOS PG tutors, Annabel Crawshaw-Brown, said: “I had so much fun teaching the lunchtime Latin club at Monifieth High School. In addition to learning the nuances of Latin grammar and building their vocabulary, the students had some lively discussions about slavery, werewolves and ghosts in Roman society. The visit to St Andrews for their graduation ceremony was the cherry on top of a great term of Latin learning.”
